Babysitting Jobs For Kids

Perhaps the most turned to and most frequently used kids business idea is that of baby sitting jobs! There are many reasons for this. First and foremost, baby sitters are in high demand. There are numerous families in every neighborhood in every town and country that are looking for someone to watch their children while they are away from home. Secondly, baby sitting is a great to earn some additional income.

However, before allowing your child to get started in this line of work you should ask yourself a few important questions:

  1. Is my child old enough to be a babysitter? Most families will not a hire a babysitter unless they are at least 13 years of age of older although it has to be said that there are some 11 to 12 year olds who have proven themselves successful at becoming a baby sitter.
  2. Is my child responsible enough to be a babysitter? This is perhaps the most important question that you will ask yourself. Would you trust your child to babysit a family member’s child or another child in your own family? If the answer is “no”, then you should consider directing your child in a different money making direction.

If your child is not responsible or cannot be “trusted” then you will definitely want to try and get them interested in another type of job. If your child fights you on this, you should simply give them tasks and responsibilities at home for them to follow in order to prove themselves responsible for a prolonged period of time. If they can meet your expectations during this time, then you can consider allowing them to be a babysitter.

Babysitting Jobs For Kids Creating Your Business And Reputation

When considering allowing your child to embark into the world of babysitting you should make sure that your child is prepared for such a task.  You should consider looking into babysitting or childcare classes in your area. You should then consider having your child take these classes in order to gain a babysitting certification before allowing them to become an official babysitter.

Secondly, you should look into having your child take CPR and General First Aid classes just to prepare your child for any emergency situation that could arise if they are babysitting away from home. Another reason you should encourage your child to do these things is so that they can build a strong reputation and resume, which they can share with potential families whom they may be babysitting for.

Thirdly, you should have your child baby-sit another family member or a friend’s child before allowing them to baby-sit for strangers. Start them out small with babysitting jobs that are only one to two hours in length. Start them out a step at a time until you are comfortable with their skills and maturity when it comes to babysitting.

You should then request these families and even the child who they babysat to evaluate them and their skills. This will allow your child to see what are the areas that they need to work on to truly succeed as a babysitter. The more practice and experience that your child gains in this type of work the more secure they will be in carrying out the job and the more at ease you will be allowing other people to trust your child with their children.

Finally, you will need to teach your child about advertising and “word of mouth.” Encourage your child to share their business contacts with other parents that have children, or to create fliers that they can distribute throughout the neighborhood. These simple skills will go a long way in teaching your child about marketing and will also assist them in building a strong client base.
