Does My Catering Trailer Need To Be Garaged At Night....??

Hi David and All,

I have recently been made redundant and my partner already managed a sandwich shop...we have talked for months of going into business ourselves...so the redundancy is the kick up the rear we have needed.

We have found a good pitch, been and seen and priced up a trailer with certs etc etc. (wilkinsons - burnley)

Today I have spoken with my local council (Oldham, Greater Manchester) in the licensing dept and not to be rude she didn’t seem to know her bacon from her sausages!!

She couldn’t advise if the catering trailer HAS TO BE garaged at night, or if ok to park outside my house, either on the road, or on my driveway, or even on my local pubs car park. I know the landlord well and I know this will not be an issue for him for me to park / store the trailer there overnight....

Your advice will be greatly appreciated

Where Is Your Catering Trailer Most Secure

Hi Andy,

Great to hear that you’ll soon be starting your own catering business. With regards to your question – the answer has little to do with the council and more to do with your own personal choice.

Do you want to tow your trailer home everyday and park it up or leave it at your pitch overnight? The answer will depend on which location has the best security for your trailer. Otherwise you may be prone to thieves stealing your trailer and equipment.

If you feel that the trailer has good security at your pitch by all means leave it there. Otherwise the best option may be tow your trailer to a secure location for peace of mind.
