My Small Business Idea Helped Me Become A Part of Goverment Deposit Scheme
I am Sreka My family consists of my husband and my daughter (12) and son (9). My husband is a very busy businessman. He remains constantly on tour and I used to be all alone in the house with the children also busy with their studies.
It was then that one of my friends working in the nearby post office suggested me to become an agent of the recurring deposit scheme of the postal department. She also informed me that the scheme had many benefits but people were not aware of it due to lack of proper advertisement. I also had the opportunity to earn good money through commission.
I was very apprehensive whether I would be able to convince people into joining the scheme. But my friend encouraged me and finally I became an agent without much expectation.
Initially I started my work by visiting the houses of my friends and relatives. I was surprised to know that most of them were not at all aware of the scheme even though it was launched by the governments several years ago!
They didn’t hesitate a bit and joined the scheme immediately. This boosted my confidence and I started my canvassing with more vigour and visited all the houses in the remote village. Being mostly middle class people, they didn’t have much savings to invest in such schemes.
But this scheme had the flexibility wherein they could join it with a very less amount of Rs. 50/- only. This factor really attracted them and most of them expressed their willingness to join it. I also arranged a workshop with help of the postal department officials where all their doubts were cleared.
Just like a family member I used to hear their problems and apprise them on the necessity for saving money today for the bright future of their children. In around three months itself I could make almost all the villagers as members of the scheme.
Today I am a very busy agent and there are two collection agents working under me. Now the fact is that I don’t have adequate time for my work!
