Second-hand trailer - what should I look out for?

Hi David and all readers

I have arranged to view a used mobile catering trailer and pitch, but I've no experience in the business.

Do you have any advice on how to check that it's in good condition and that everything is working? What kind of things should I look out for? The trailer is said to be just over a year old. Thanks

Do These Basic Checks
by: Anonymous

Hi There,

There are certainly some checks you can do to minimize risk.

Firstly, check with the council that he/she has permission to be on that pitch. Even if it’s on private land he/she should be registered with the council. They would have visited the business and have a record -very important.

Secondly when you see the pitch spend the day and see how busy it gets and if the customers are happy with the service. Make sure that the trailer comes with an up to date gas and electric certificates.

Also do a basic check of the equipment and make sure each appliance works. These are the basic checks you can do. Make a list and take it with you, then check off each point as you go along.

Hope this helps, and keep us updated

Regards
David
