My small home business opportunity in ebay started quite by accident. It so happened that my nephew was interested in starting an ebay business so he brought himself one of those books that shows you how by following certain methods, how to make a considerable amount of money trading on ebay.

Anyway after he'd finished reading the book he gave me the opportunity to browse through it, admittedly the book did have a few interesting points going for it, but nothing to warrant the high price of £50 pounds nevertheless it really got me thinking?

What Could I Sell On Ebay

At that time I was working in my current business mobile catering but during the quiet periods I found myself browsing through the book again.It really got me thinking- is it possible for me to use ebay to start a new small home business opportunity?... something that wouldn't be as time consuming as my current business venture but that could co-exist alongside my existing business without requiring to much extra effort?

So what could be sold on ebay to kick start my new small home business opportunity? I started by making a list of products that were already being used by me in my current business.This was to be the main focus of my list as these products could easily be sourced from the different wholesalers that were being used for my business.

After my list was done I asked myself the following few questions

What products would interest people enough for them to want to buy.
Something disposable that would produce repeat sales
Nothing heavy or bulky the lighter the better to save on p&p post and packaging
A product that for me personally had a dual use, so if it didn't sell I would use it in my business

After studying my list carefully it became obvious to me to try and sell catering related products.This would get my small home business opportunity off to a good start.Items such as plastic cups,plates,forks etc. and since these products were already being used in my catering business anyway-this made perfect sense to me, easy to pack and not too heavy for the p&p costs.

These items were already getting delivered to my business so all I would have to do, is to order a few extra items to sell.The good thing for me is that, if these items didn't sell then they could be used within my current business.

Can you do the same to get started on ebay by selling a product or service that you already have access to? This will help narrow down WHAT YOU CAN SELL and keep your financial risk to a minimum

Would This Small Home Business Opportunity Work?

For me personally this was a reasonable risk to take even though I had no real idea if selling these catering related products would be successful or not. In the back of my mind I started thinking "what a waste of time" but I'll try it anyway.

I wasn't sure of what prices to charge to begin with, but after researching similar items on ebay including postage and packing rates things became much clearer.After this was done I used my digital camera to take a couple of pictures of my products (including different angles) and wrote a informative description. After this was done my ebay add was previewed and then submitted as a buy it now item on ebay
