Wash Your Way To Riches When You Start A Window Cleaning Business

Did you know that nearly 95% of all businesses, both small and large, hire outside firms and contractors to carry out the cleaning of their businesses windows?

Though many businesses will hire cleaning staff or employee janitors to care for the mopping and basic cleaning inside a place of business, most businesses will contract another individual or service to clean their windows.

How would you like to start a window cleaning business and begin making a substantial living? The fact of the matter is that starting a window cleaning business is very simple to achieve. You don’t need any special training or certification to be a window cleaner. In fact, all you need is the proper tools and a strong work ethic and you can quickly begin making a full-time living from your privately owned window cleaning business.

What Type Of Window Cleaning Business

The first thing you will need to do is determine what type of window cleaning business you would like to start. You will most likely want to start out small. This would consist of cleaning windows for companies that are ‘ground floor’ companies. This means that all of the windows can easily be reached on a ladder and no special equipment would be required. These types of business windows are the easiest to clean and are also the safest to clean.

Once you have mastered cleaning windows at this height, you can then invest your earnings in more equipment that make it possible for you to clean windows on larger buildings and at more dangerous heights.

Secondly, you will need to obtain window cleaning equipment. This will consist of cleaning brushes, squeegees, ladders, power washers, and cleaning products. You may need to also invest in window rags and gloves for your workers. Once you have determined the type of equipment that you will need you will also need to acquire a method of travel for transporting this equipment from one location to another when you start a window cleaning business.

Thirdly, you should contact a lawyer or a center for business in order to establish your company professionally. In doing this you may also be able to acquire a small business loan to further advance your new window cleaning company. Additionally, you will want to create a checking and or savings account in your company’s name. Most places of business will desire to pay you in check for your services in order to keep track of their bills for tax time.

Advertise Your Window Cleaning Business

From there you will simply need to begin advertising your company. You should create business cards and or flyers to promote the services that you are offering, along with the rates which you charge. You may want to seek out this same information from other window cleaning companies in your area.  This way you can beat their prices in order to entice businesses to switch to your services.

Once you have created your means of advertising you should begin conducting ‘walk-ins’ to various companies in your area in order to see if they would be interested in your window cleaning services and rates. It should be noted that some buildings are not owned by the companies who reside inside them. Therefore, you may need to contact the buildings landlord in order to solicit your services.

The more that you advertise when you start a window cleaning business the more successful that you will be. You should advertise as much as possible during your first year in order to get your companies name out there. You may want to consider doing this in local newspapers and online.
