Starting a Business - My Struggles With Confidence
I am Kavitha, post graduate in English Literature. I have one daughter who is studying now seventh standard. My husband deserted me when my daughter was two years old.
For more than ten years I was struggling with confidence and found it hard to face my day to day economical problems. Seven years ago one of my best friends gave me some advice to start a coaching class for tenth and twelfth students in English.
After much hesitation I started and now more than 100 students are getting coaching from me. With the help of their fees I manage to support myself and pay for everything that I need. I teach not only how to develop their skills in language but also how to face their problems with confidence.
To be a successful guide to the students in their subjects we must be excellent in our subject and be willing to be keep up to date with new material for the sake of our students.
Training the late bloomers is very tough in my profession because it is too difficult to identity if someone is a slow learner. People may be affected mentally, physically, due to his environment and other issues.
After recognizing the problems I train them how to overcome their problems and gradually get them interested in studies. I have helped some of my friends who are interested in doing the same profession to do what I do. In times of need I have also guided them and taught them how to control the students to the best of their ability.
Sometimes I didn't get fees from one of my students who struggled to pay. So I paid her school fees to help her get a good education as she belongs to very poor family. I really want her to have the best possible start in life and to have a good education.
By doing this work it helps me forget my all miseries and I also earn a handsome income for working only six hours with the students. I also spend my leisure time preparing for the next day as it brings me much joy.
Many of the students inspired by me are encouraged to do better and achieve more in their lives. I have also grown in confidence and learned to help others less fortunate than myself in society. I like this very much and in the future I have a plan to start my own school.
