VOIP Small Business

My voip small business experience started by researching different service providers to see the benefits (if any) that this service could provide. There was a lot of hype going around especially with the no line rental to pay and free calls . After exploring some potential VOIP providers it was discovered that some offered free calls only to other people using the same service, what a waste of time that was.In the end I chose to try out Vonage as they offered free calls to any landline.

Starting With Vonage

Vonage voip small business provider was the best deal for me at the time, no charge for line rental and free local and national calls. The only charge you had to pay to get started was a one off activation fee of £10, however they do offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't like the service. Perfect! and you have the ability to call any phone number just like a normal landline telephone something that was essential to me.

Installing Voip Small Business Phone Adapter

After making the nessasary phone calls to join up and try the service, they sent me a phone adapter which was supposed to be straightforward to install. IT Would of been if they sent me out the right one, my broadband connection works through a cable modem and not a DSL modem (broadband through the phone line) Anyway another phone adapter was sent out to me, this one had a built in router that was easy to install..

Here see for yourself, below are some pictures to show you how the vonage adapter is fitted in conjuction with my cable modem. The second picture to the right displays the rear of my cable modem.

The picture to the right displays both Vonage Phone Adapter and My Cable Modem. As you can see the blue cable connects from the vonage phone adapter to the cable modem. The RED CABLE connects to your P.C network card a very simple installation. It's not that important but I wanted you to have a feel of what was involved, and how it all looked after the voip small business phone adapter was fitted
This gives you an idea of setting up your phone adapter, but bear in mind that this is for a cable modem you may have a (DSL modem, broadband through your telephone line) and have to use a slightly different set-up.On the next page more detail will be given on the actual vonage services and features.

Go through to the next chapter VOIP Savings, to see some of the voip features and how much my monthly (vonage voip) new bill, compares to the old landline service.
