Work at home ? Start Your Own Backyard Garden Nursery
by Priya
Hi, I am Priya. Ours is a small family, me, my husband and my child . I am a homemaker. I was free after finishing my daily house chores. I felt as if I was killing my time for nothing. As
I don’t want to waste my free time, I planned to start a part-time business.
As we have space at our home, I got an idea from a book to start a small nursery. Initially I found it hard to take care of the plants. But I started to browse the net for the guidelines to take care of the plants, how to grow new plats etc. I shared my ideas and doubts to professional gardeners and gained their experience and advice.
I contacted my nearest local agricultural office got the license and agricultural permits.
The toughest part I faced in my part-time job is when I wanted to sell my plants. Initially I had no customers, but I didn’t give up hope and hard work. Now over a period of time I have a good number of customers. My skill of gardening helped me to nurture my business. Once I gained customers they gave a plenty of suggestions and ideas. I started to improve my business by satisfying the customer need.
After starting my small part-time business of starting a nursery, I have gained self-confidence, time-management, and business ethics and so on. Now days my husband helps me in the garden whenever he is free. It has made us closer than before. Once I started and established my garden nursery in the correct way, it was both fun and profitable.
My advice to the friends who have an idea of starting a part-time or full-time business, first study yourself. Check which business suits you, the capital required for it. Get advice from the people who are experienced in it. After you have started your business, don’t let your business go down. Always think of the ways how to improvise your business. That’s it.
Best Wishes for your own home business.
